AISY Middle School (Grades 6–8) is now enrolling for the 2026–2027 academic year — extending the AISY journey from Preschool and Elementary into the middle years, all on one campus in Radwa 1 on the Royal Commission, Yanbu. The middle years matter. Early adolescence is when habits of mind take root, when curiosity deepens into genuine discipline, and when young people begin to understand who they are and what they are capable of. This program is built for exactly that moment.
A departmentalized model built for the middle years
Elementary school lays the foundation. High school demands independence. Middle School is where scholars learn to move between the two — and AISY’s departmentalized structure is designed to make that transition purposeful.
In Grades 6–8, scholars move between specialist classrooms throughout the day, building the organizational skills, academic independence, and self-awareness that sustained success requires. Each subject is taught by a dedicated specialist who brings deep content knowledge and genuine passion for their discipline. No scholar disappears into a crowd: an advisory and homeroom system ensures that every student is known by name, checked in with daily, and seen as a whole person — not just a grade on a page.
This combination — departmentalization plus advisory — reflects what research consistently tells us about effective middle-level education. Scholars thrive when they are both challenged by experts and anchored by a trusted adult who knows them well.
Rigorous American standards
AISY’s Middle School curriculum is rooted in internationally recognized frameworks, aligned to the same standards our parent school, the American International School of Jeddah, has delivered since 1952.
- AERO Standards + Common Core — English Language Arts and Mathematics, with a clear pathway through pre-algebra into algebra readiness
- Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) — lab-based, inquiry-driven science that develops real scientific thinking
- Inquiry-based Social Studies — history, geography, and civics that ask scholars to analyze, argue, and reflect
These frameworks are not marketing language. They are the scaffolding that ensures what is taught in Grade 6 builds meaningfully toward what is expected in Grade 8, and what is expected in Grade 8 prepares scholars for a rigorous high school program wherever they go next.
Core curriculum
Every Middle School scholar at AISY follows a rich core program:
- English Language Arts — close reading, analytical writing, literature study, vocabulary, and research skills developed progressively across Grades 6, 7, and 8
- Mathematics — a structured pre-algebra and algebra readiness pathway, developing procedural fluency alongside conceptual depth and problem-solving
- Science — NGSS-aligned, lab-based inquiry; scholars design investigations, analyze data, and communicate findings like working scientists
- Social Studies — history, world geography, and civics through inquiry, primary sources, and structured academic discussion

Specialist and enrichment classes
A great middle school education goes well beyond the core. Every AISY scholar participates in specialist instruction across:
- Arabic — aligned to ISS and ACTFL standards, with dedicated pathways for both native and non-native speakers
- Islamic Studies — honoring faith, language, culture, and character
- Physical Education — aligned to SHAPE America national standards, developing fitness, teamwork, and a lifelong love of movement
- Art — visual thinking, creative expression, and design across media
- Music — ensemble, composition, and musical literacy
- Technology and Digital Literacy — responsible, purposeful use of technology as a tool for learning and communication
- Electives — additional enrichment offerings that expand the program and follow scholar interests
The whole adolescent
Academic rigor is necessary. It is not sufficient. AISY’s Middle School is designed around the understanding that early adolescence is a social, emotional, and physical journey as much as an academic one.
Advisory sits at the center of school life. Every scholar belongs to a small advisory group with a consistent adult mentor — a daily touchpoint for goal-setting, reflection, and support. Character development and leadership are woven into advisory and the wider curriculum rather than bolted on as extras.
Service learning connects scholars to the broader community, developing empathy, responsibility, and the understanding that education has a purpose beyond test scores.
Athletics carry the AISY Stallions tradition into the middle years: team sports, individual events, and a culture of effort, respect, and fair play that complements everything happening in the classroom.
Clubs and after-school activities extend the day for scholars who want to go deeper — whether in STEM, the arts, leadership, or beyond.
Counseling and social-emotional support is not a crisis service at AISY — it is a consistent, proactive part of school life. Our team is here before scholars need urgent help, building the kind of trusting relationships that make a real difference.
Ready for high school — and beyond
Everything in AISY’s Middle School is oriented toward a clear destination: scholars who arrive at Grade 9 prepared, confident, and genuinely ready.
That means study skills explicitly taught and regularly practiced — time management, note-taking, review strategies, and academic integrity. It means academic independence built incrementally across three years, so scholars own their learning by the time they enter high school. And it means a smooth transition pathway informed by data, advisory relationships, and close communication with families.
Whether scholars continue their American education elsewhere in the world or transition into a different system, an AISY Middle School education gives them the foundations — academic, social, and personal — to succeed.
