AISY is steered by a dedicated Board of Trustees committed to the AISJ legacy and the highest standards of American education in Yanbu. Our volunteer board members bring expertise across medicine, business, engineering, and international development. Working hand-in-hand with school leadership, they safeguard our mission: to inspire every scholar through authentic American education, ensuring our community remains a place where every child is known, safe, and well taught.
Our Board Members
Sherene El-Sioufi — Vice Chair of the Board
Dr. Sherene El-Sioufi is a quadruple board-certified physician specializing in pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine. She relocated to the Kingdom with her family in 2016 and practices at the International Medical Center, bringing a physician’s commitment to wellbeing and excellence to the Board’s work.
Gary Flom — Treasurer
Gary Flom is a senior executive with two decades of experience across the automotive, transportation, and sustainable mobility sectors in the United States, Europe, and the Middle East. A decorated U.S. Marine, he is recognized for his expertise in electric vehicle and sustainable fleet transformation.
Raed AlZubi — Member of the Board
Raed AlZubi is a C-Suite executive with regional and international experience in industrial manufacturing. He has been active in the downstream chemical and plastic conversion industries in Saudi Arabia since 2013 and served as President of the Society of Plastics Engineers (2017–2018).
Kim Haweit — Member of the Board
Kim Haweit serves as Chapter Director of the American Chamber of Commerce Saudi Arabia. She holds a degree in Marketing and Hospitality Management and brings more than fifteen years of experience working across U.S.–Saudi business markets.
Wajid Khan — Member of the Board
Wajid Khan holds a master’s degree in electrical engineering and works as a Principal Specialist in Field Services. He has been a long-standing member of the school community, with his children having attended our affiliated schools for nine years.
Akber Saifullah — Member of the Board
Dr. Akber Saifullah is an Internal Medicine physician who completed a fellowship in nephrology. He previously served as Associate Program Director for an Internal Medicine residency program at Kaiser Permanente and relocated to the Kingdom from California in 2014.
